Opening Day...A Huge Success

Posted by South Okanagan Minor Baseball Association on May 02 2017 at 08:44AM PDT

The first SOMBA opening day held in years was a huge success, and a great way to kick off the 2018 baseball season for the over 275 young athletes who have registered for spring baseball this year. This spike in registration could be due to a number of factors and the large turnout on Opening Day was just another indication that the youth of Penticton love baseball. Huge thank-you to all of the volunteers who made this event happen as well as Penticton city councillor Max Picton for throwing out this season’s opening pitch. Food for everyone attending Opening Day was generously donated by Penticton IGA’s Colin Powell who has been a wonderful supporter of youth baseball in Penticton. Play Ball!!
