Peewee AA Wins Interior
Last weekend the Peewee AA Tigers had their spring playoffs in West Kelowna where they had to fight against 7 other teams to try and win the interior.
The opening game did not go as planned with a 4-3 loss to COMBA 1 Thursday evening. Nobody on the team was happy with the turnout of the game and came back with a vengeance on Saturday beating COMBA 3 16-3 in the morning and taking it over COMBA 2 18-3 in the afternoon.
Sunday the Tigers faced off against the top seed from the other pool West Kelowna. It was a back and forth contest with Matthew Picheniuk shutting down the last 2 innings to give the Tigers a chance to pull ahead and take the Semi Final game 18-11.
Sunday afternoon the Tigers came face to face with Kamloops 1. The Tigers started off slow and were trailing 5-1 after the first inning but kept chipping away at Kamloops. By the time the 7th inning came it was an 8-6 game in favour of Kamloops. Kaden Collins and the Tigers were able to shut down Kamloops in the top of the inning to put themselves in a situation to bring it back in the bottom of the inning. The bottom 2 hitters in the order Tyler Messing and Cole Mohns hit back to back singles to start the inning which brought up lead off hitter Cody Thompson who hit a double to the right center fence to bring it to a 8-7 game. the next 2 batters just missed on driving in a run then Matthew Picheniuk walked on 4 straight balls to load the bases. The next pitch Carson Burnett hit a walkoff double to right center field to give the Tigers the win!
