Calling all Umpires! ...and those who want to be! [cancelled]

Level 1/2 Baseball Umpires’ Clinic Saturday, March 28, 2020...

SOUTH OKANAGAN MINOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION will be hosting a Level 1 & 2 Umpires Clinic and is inviting all those who umpired in past years and all those wanting to become a baseball umpire to attend. If you are wishing to umpire for SOMBA, you must:

  • be at least Peewee age, 
  • be willing to purchase your “uniform starter kit” ($75 est.) (mask, chest protector & shin guards supplied by SOMBA), and
  • commit to working at least 10 games through the 2020 Spring season. Umpires who work a minimum 10 games will be reimbursed their starter kit costs at season’s end.

The details of the clinic are as follows:

Time:         8:30AM – 4:00 PM

                     400 Carmi Avenue

If you wish to attend the clinic go to https://bcbua.ca/?pg=clinics , select clinics page and scroll down to “South Okanagan Minor Baseball”. If you are a first or second year umpire, register for the Level 1 Clinic. If you are an experienced umpire, register for the Level 2 Offense clinic.  Important notes:

Registering for a clinic is a 2-part process:

 As a new member,

  1. Scroll down to the Penticton - SOMBA clinics and select “Register”, (Level 1 option or Level 2 – Offence if you are a returning umpire and 14 or over)
  2. Complete your registration as a member and pay your membership fee ($35 if you are born in 2007 or 2008 or $65 otherwise) using a credit card (your registration fee will be reimbursed providing you work a minimum of 5 games for SOMBA in 2020)

 As a returning member,

  1.  sign in, complete your 2020 membership registration including payment and then,
  2. select the clinic you wish to attend.  Please remember that our area is known as “Okanagan Central/South”.
