SOMBA is proud to announce the 2023 Lorne Raymond Bursary Award recipients. SOMBA is awarding two $500 Bursaries in 2023.  The 2023 recipients are Ben Foreman and Matt Picheniuk.  

Ben played 13 seasons and umpired 7 seasons with SOMBA.  Ben played with SOMBA’s High Performance Program and was a member of two Provincial Silver Medal teams and one Bronze Medal team. Ben was an honors student at Penticton Secondary School graduating with a diploma in both English and French. He is now attending the University of Calgary, studying Kinesiology. He is also continuing his baseball career after successfully making the University of Calgary Dinos Baseball team. Congratulations and best of luck Ben! 

Matt played 12 seasons with SOMBA, many with SOMBA’s High Performance Teams, including two Provincial Silver medalists.  Matt graduated from Princess Margaret Secondary School and is now attending University of the Fraser Valley, studying Criminology. He is also continuing his baseball career after successfully making the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades Baseball team. Congratulations and best of luck Matt!
